The short answer is Yes, Chime accepts checks from third parties under the assumption that the checks are made payable you. Customers can only deposit mobile checks if they are using their Chime account as their primary bank.

Does Chime take Third-Party checks?
Yes. You can deposit another person’s check into your Chime bank account. The check must be made payable by the recipient to be able to deposit into your Chime account.
A third-party check made out to cash, a business or anyone else will not be accepted. First, you will need to have at least $200 of payroll direct deposits in your account. You can use the Chime check deposit option within 30 days if you have at least $200 in payroll deposits.
You can deposit a check from a third party bank into any account. Use the Chime Mobile Check deposit feature to upload a scan of a valid Check and wait for the Chime verification teams to approve it.
Always verify the check details are correct and clearly photographed. Due to poor lighting and blurry images, poorly scanned and uploaded checks could be rejected.

Chime Makes Mobile Deposits
Yes, Chime does accept mobile check deposits. However there are some restrictions. You can only use the Chime Mobile Check Deposit feature if you’re actively using it as your primary bank account. That is, you have to have a credit card with active use and an active direct deposits coming in.
Chime’s fraud reduction efforts are reduced by the use of security measures that limit activity.
How can you be eligible for the Mobile Check Debit feature
First, make a minimum of one direct deposit in order to qualify for the mobile deposit feature. Your history of Chime accounts, your direct deposit amounts, and other internal risk factors will determine your eligibility to mobile check deposit.
For example, Chime allows its members to use mobile check deposit if they receive at least one direct deposit for at least $1 in the following ways:
- Government benefits
- A provider of payroll services or a company
- Payer for gig economy via automated clearinghouse (ACH) transfer or original credit transaction (OCT). Grubhub and other gig workers include car advertising, delivering cars across the country, Amazon parcel deliveries, and pilot car driver.
Once you have made a qualifying direct deposit, the Chime app will activate Mobile Check Deposit. Other risk-based factors may determine whether you will receive access to the feature.

Checking into Chime.
Once the mobile check-deposit feature has been activated, checks can be deposited via the Chime application. To deposit a valid business or personal check for cashing, you simply scan the image in the banking app. After Chime verifies the check, the funds are transferred to your account.
However, you must first be eligible to deposit checks from Chime. As an example, you can get $200 from your employer directly or through payroll.
After your activation, will need to follow these steps in order to deposit a mobile check into your Chime bank account .
- The Chime app is available for iOS and Android devices.
- Choose the “Move Money” option.
- Click on the Move Money option and select “Add Funds”.
- With the camera icon, choose “Mobile Deposit”
- Choose the type of transaction you want from the available options.
- Enter the amount written on the check to be scanned.
- You can verify your check by signing it on the back, or writing instructions for the Chime verification team.
- As the app instructs, scan the check photos clearly.
- Upload the images and wait to be verified by the check-cashing department.
A delay or rejection by the Chime verification staff may be caused by blurred, dark or unclear scan images. If you are denied by Chime, then rescan the image and try again.
Take care not to discard the check until funds have been transferred to your account.
Chime lets users deposit up to $10,000 monthly and $1,000 per day three times in 24 hours. Chime only allows you to deposit $10,000 per hour and up $25,000 per month.
What is the average time it takes for Chime to deposit a mobile check?
Chime takes around one day to deposit mobile checks in many cases. Clearing funds for large checks and personal checks can take three to five days. It can take longer because other banks are involved, and smaller banks can have a slower clearing and ACH transfer process.

Is Chime Mobile Check Deposit Instant?
Yes, the Chime Mobile Check deposit is instant. The funds will clear within three to five business day after the ACH money transfer, excluding federal holidays.
Where can I deposit a check for Chime
The Chime mobile check deposit feature is only available through the Chime App. The app is available at the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Chime does not accept deposits from ATMs.
On the upside, there are over 9,000 places where you can deposit cash for Chime. Walmart, Walgreens CVS, Rite Aid and Family Dollar accept cash deposits.
